Ep 45 | How One Mother Runner Cut a Full Hour off Her Marathon Time
How would you feel if you were able to cut one full hour off your marathon time between your first and second marathons? I mean, seriously, that would be awesome, right? Today’s guest did just that to qualify for the 2020 Boston Marathon. Now, I will tell you, it wasn’t easy. She struggled even getting into running in the first place, but she also suffered a nasty IT band injury in training for her first marathon.

Jennifer Hayworth
Jennifer Hayworth has worked as a hairstylist in Eugene, Oregon, for the past 18 years, and 14 years ago a farmer named Darren Hayworth came in for a haircut with her. Long story short, they fell in love, got married, had two kids, and currently live on their family’s 6,000-acre, 4th-generation grass seed farm in Harrisburg, Oregon. She still continues to work part-time as a hairstylist, her husband farms, and their kids are 11 and 8. She enjoys running, CrossFit, adventures, traveling, and also the solitude that comes with farm living. It’s a beautifully balanced life!
Today Jen shares what changed and made the difference between her first and second marathons, and I think you’re going to be surprised by what she says! We talk about prioritizing training and how she was able to do that with two small kiddos at home at the time, and we touch on just how important mental training is. You hear me talk about that all the time, that training your mind is just as important as the physical training. Today’s chat will prove that once again!
